Can I sponsor my nephew to Australia? If you are an Australian citizen or permanent resident then yes, you can sponsor your nephew to visit you in Australia on a visitor visa. Please note that is must be your nephew – it can not be your nephew-in-law.
You can sponsor family members, including nephews, on a subclass 600 (family sponsored stream) visitor visa.
To be a relative, you must be an applicant’s:
- partner, parent or child
- brother or sister
- grandparent or grandchild
- aunt or uncle
- niece or nephew
- the step equivalent of the above
A sponsor can’t be a:
- fiance
- in-law
- cousin
- friend
- New Zealand citizen
These visas can be granted up to 12 months. The length of grant will depend on your individual circumstances.
